Would the world be better off if Israel was never formed?

I recently ran across a poll about the land of Israel which the question itself really got under my skin. It was created by Dr. Cliff Pickover, a best selling author, simply asking: "Would the world be better off today if Israel had never formed after World War II?". While I do not usually answer such questions, the results are a little disturbing, and it isn't close either. I am wondering if such questions really instigate hatred.

I must say very loudly that the world would be in a much worse situation without a home for the Jews and I am not confused I know what I'm saying. By having a land that is concentrated with Jews the strength of the nation has the ability to move mountains. Now we Jews have to utilize our power for our benefit and the benefit of the world.
