Hachette Audio Features Oscar-Nominated & Emmy Awarded Mare Winningham Narrating Rebbetzin Esther Jungreis’ Bestselling Book: Life Is A Test
Rebbetzin Esther Jungreis is arguably one of the Jewish world’s human treasures. She’s been a tireless, globetrotting spokeswoman for Judaism’s highest ideals for over 40 years, speaking to capacity crowds on every continent. Through the efforts of her Hineni outreach organization, she has assisted tens of thousands of Jews worldwide to reconnect to their rich heritage. A challenging and mesmerizing speaker, she’s written four bestselling books and her latest, Life Is A Test: How to Meet Life’s Challenges Successfully, has just been released as an audiobook by industry leader Hachette Audio (formerly Time Warner Audio Books). Among this fall’s new releases in the spirituality category, Publisher’s Weekly has pegged this audiobook as “cream of the crop”.
A survivor of the Bergen-Belsen concentration camp, the Hungarian-born Rebbetzin is a descendant of a long, illustrious rabbinic line. The lessons of her forebears, as well as her own hard-won truths, are interwoven throughout a compelling three-part book, read by Oscar-nominated and Emmy winning actress Mare Winningham. Speaking of her experience narrating the Rebbetzin’s latest book, “Reading for Life Is A Test gave me the reward of an opened heart”, said Winningham, who had first encountered the Rebbetzin’s wisdom through her book The Committed Life. Winningham’s fervor is discernible in her excellent narration.
Anthony Goff, Publisher Director for Hachette Audio, was exuberant to bring this audio book to market. “To work with the Rebbetzin and Mare Winningham is to associate with high caliber people. While Life Is A Test is based on a distinctively Jewish biblical foundation, the messages are surprisingly universal. People of all stripes and even non-religious readers will find wisdom, hope, and meaning in this audiobook.” Hineni’s executive director Barbara Janov, who has worked with the Rebbetzin since the founding of the organization, said, “Life Is A Test will significantly help listeners in their own journey of self-discovery, whether they come from certain persuasions or even none at all.”
Life Is A Test opens a portal to understand the hidden significance in challenging circumstances. The book’s principal three parts examine tests of self-discovery, tests of interpersonal relationships, and concludes with discerning Divine Design in the course of world events, as well as one’s personal world. It is available on CD as an unabridged audiobook and online as a digital download. A brief sample is available at www.hineni.org.
Rebbetzin Jungreis’ has also authored Jewish Soul on Fire, The Committed Life, and The Committed Marriage. She maintains a popular weekly column in The Jewish Press, America’s largest Jewish weekly. An ardent advocate of Jewish continuity, she’s credited with over 1,000 successful marriage matches. In 2006, President Bush appointed the Rebbetzin to a five-year term on the United States Holocaust Memorial Council.
