What should limudei kodesh include?

Since I am asking this question in another forum, I was curious what other peoples opinions are with regard to the make up of religious studies. As a Boy, we were pushed on Gemara, and from Junior High onward it made up the bulk of our limudei Kodesh courses. We also had a halacha, hashkafa, and chumash class in high school - but very little, if any Jewish History outside of biblical history, and very poor instruction of Hebrew as a language. I am just curious what people want for their kids

I am not differentiating between boys and girls - so either assume that the girls are learning gemara if you think that that's okay, and if not, assume that the gemara portion is not there.

GHH, Jewish History with ALL classes taught exclusivley in Hebrew

kids need to see judaism as a living religion. not some boring stuff you read on sat morning while waiting for lunch, and then go spend sat nite hanging out on street corners. they need to know the foundations of torah and talmud, then see it in practice, in america and israel, and live it, the fun parts and the more serious parts.
