Onset is a picturesque Victorian village, with clean, sandy beaches, chartered fishing boats, Canal Cruises, a Vineyard ferry, parades and street fairs, and, of course, a 4th-of-July fireworks display.
The synagogue was founded soon after World War II, and was Rabbi Joseph B. Soloveitchik’s summer Shul. . We have a resident Director who runs the Minyan and reads the Torah.
Shabbos minyanim are smaller during the 3 weeks in July, although we still attract 12-25 men for Shabbos, and an equal number of women. During August (e.g. after Tisha B’Av), the minyan expand a lot, and we will usually have daily services
We have a kiddush Shabbos morning, allowing everyone to meet and talk, a Pirke Avot class Shabbos afternoon, and a shiur between mincha and maariv.
We are about an hour from Boston or Providence, maybe 4 from New York. Onset is the best location on Cape Cod to vacation, and provides a perfect base for enjoying Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard or Nantucket, Plymouth, Provincetown, Woods Hole, Orleans, the National Seashore, Boston and Newport, RI.
Cape Cod has miles of wonderful beaches, snug harbors, charming villages, historic sites, aquariums, golf, tennis, shopping, go-karts, baseball, water parks, movies, summer theater, antique shops, bicycle trails, kayaking, fishing, whale watching and so much more. In Onset, you can enjoy all this along with a delightful, appropriate Shabbos experience.
