Camp Description:
Camp Yofi, the resident camp of the Merage Jewish Community Center of Orange County, a non-profit Jewish camping organization, is currently seeking an Associate Camp Director. Camp Yofi is located in the beautiful San Bernardino Mountains, and provides a quality Jewish camping experience for children ages 7-16.
Job Description:
· Assist the Camp Director in camper and staff recruitment;
· Assist in development and implementation of summer programs and staff orientation;
· Participate in and help coordinate publicity, including home visits and synagogue presentations;
· As the on-site director run the day-to-day operations of camp;
· Supervise camp staff and campers;
· Promote and support camp rules and regulations for campers and staff.
Job Requirements:
· Bachelor’s degree in education, teaching, management, social work, recreation or related field.
· Previous experience in the camping field;
· Camp Programming skills;
· Superior organizational and interpersonal skills;
· Excellent communication and customer service skills;
· Understanding of Jewish religion and traditions;
· Experience working with youth;
· Good sense of humor.
Specific Responsibilities:
· Maintain maximum safety for all campers at all times;
· Participate in pre-camp training and read the staff guide;
· Monitor and develop relationships w/staff and campers;
· Provide staff with feedback and correct inappropriate behaviors;
· Help campers and staff develop new skills and positive attitudes;
· Model positive and appropriate behavior to campers and other staff;
· Run staff meetings;
· Supervise/execute set-up and beginning of summer and clean-up at end of summer.
Salary:
· Commensurate with experience;
